WelcomeOn behalf of the monks of Saint Benedict's Abbey, I welcome you to our web site. St. Benedict wrote his Rule in the sixth century, a rule that contains core values, spirituality and a way of life that is as fresh today as it was when written. Essential to his Rule of Life is the desire to seek God, to live in community, to pray and work, and to be a place of hospitality and welcome.
As you explore our website we hope the words, photos and the spirit of our site will help you to feel welcome. It is difficult to express in words our vocation to seek God in every moment of our day. Called by God and sustained by his grace, we seek to live the ideals of the Rule in this time and place. This is the call or vocation to which each monk has responded.
I especially bring to your attention our vocation page and our retreat center page. The call of God is as active today as in days past. We invite you to consider our monastic community and to contact our vocation director if you have a sincere interest. Our retreat house offers a place of quiet and prayer. It is available for individual or private retreats, if you are interested in making a retreat or a day of prayer, please contact our retreat center staff for available dates.
It is our hope that you will explore these pages and learn something about our lives as monks at Saint Benedict's Abbey and Retreat Center. If you find yourself near Benet Lake, please come and pray with us. For all of the monks of Benet Lake...Welcome!
