GROUNDS FOR PRAYER
St. Benedict's Abbey offers a variety of retreat options. Retreat space is available on weekends (Friday evening through Sunday noon) or during the week (Tuesday evening through Thursday noon), retreats provide an opportunity for a time of quiet and spiritual reflection. We will also work with you to accommodate your special retreat needs.
Various types of retreats are supported by our retreat center. We host groups that come to the Abbey with their own programs and group facilitators or spiritual directors. We also host directed and private retreats. May we assist you in planning and booking your personal or group retreat?
Participation in the prayer of the Community in the Abbey church can provide a basic framework. The many acres of monastic solitude provide ample space for quiet walks and reflection.
Our retreat center presently is housed in two
sections: Benet Hall and Felix Hall. Benet Hall has three suites, one single
bedroom, a large retreat or conference room, a small lounge (all
air-conditioned) and a kitchenette. Felix Hall is located on four floors of one
wing of the Abbey. The first floor contains the retreat center dining hall and
kitchen. The second floor has 10 bedrooms, two lounges, snack area (containing
tables/chairs, soda machine, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee urns) and a
designated smoking room. The third floor has 13 bedrooms, a large conference
room and a chapel. The fourth floor has 13 bedrooms, five breakout rooms and a
small conference room with a small refrigerator and coffee service area. Both
Benet Hall and Felix Hall are accessible by either two stairways or a four
person capacity elevator. Only the dining room, lounges, conference room, snack
area, and chapel of Felix Hall are air conditioned during summer months. All
bedrooms are carpeted with private full baths with tub/shower combination
(liquid soap is provided). A Bible, bedding, towels and window fans are provided
in each room. The Abbey Church is air-conditioned during
the summer months. As of April 1, 2007, the
Retreat Center is now a smoke free center.
All individuals and groups can make inquiries through the Abbey retreat
center office to finalize reservation contracts for use of our retreat facilities. A
nonrefundable 20% deposit is required 6 months prior to each group retreat for confirmation of retreat scheduling and
required accommodations.
